The SAP Master Data Specialist - EMEA takes ownership of consulting and client activity by advising and defining solutions and acting as a specialist who provides subject matter expertise. They are typically recognised as a leader in a particular area within the company’s group IT and assist in developing and mentoring others and innovating company’s IT solutions.

Purpose of the role would be:

  • Understand current and target business data structures and use data modelling and analysis techniques to support data cleanse & migration from old to new data models
  • Develop and define a plan for cleansing the data to meet the business requirements defined in the new solution
  • Work with the business to resolve Data Quality defects identified through the Project Lifecycle ensuring they are remediated within the required timeframes
  • Understand, describe and assess user and business data requirements
  • Challenge constructively and act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose
  • Develop into a key point of contact for data within the business
  • Support the Business Process Leads with planning and coordinating activities
  • Facilitate collaboration and lead effective communication with all stakeholders to support deliver the Data Migration cleanse activities
  • Grow their understanding of the Solution to be readily able to support the BPL

Job description:

  • Requirement gathering – Drive the research and gathering of data requirements within a defined scope, determining the approach for delivering each requirement based on the context
  • Data Analysis – Analyse and model ‘As-Is’ and ‘To-Be’ business data migration to ensure that it is accurate and efficiently supports the business processes. This will often involve modelling and data queries to build business understanding and confidence
  • Stakeholder Management & Engagement – Engage with business owners, Business Process Leads and users to ensure ongoing mutual understanding of data processes, priorities, context and challenges
  • Facilitation – Work with business owners and business users to discover and articulate data requirements in a variety of ways.
  • Assurance & Quality – Understand and apply the company's Business Process design principles, business rulebooks and data rulebooks
  • Traceability – Ensure that approach to the Data Cleansing tasks are reusable and clearly documented
  • Reporting - Data Cleansing status is clearly reported within the agreed Programme Framework
  • Risks and Issues - Risk and Issues are identified, escalated and managed within their area of responsibility
  • Suggest better ways of doing things that the Data Migration Team, Product Owner or Business Process Leads may not have considered
  • Represent the User and Business within Data Migration Status meetings where applicable
  • Take part in Root Cause Analysis to uncover the cause of persistent Data issues and/or process underperformance
  • Support the Business Process Lead with reporting and Migration activities / tasks as and when required

Candidate’s profile:

Technical Competency requirements:

  • Strong skills in Data Modelling and excel management
  • Knowledge of, or capable of gaining an understanding of business structures
  • Knowledge of SAP data structures and process foundations (S/4HANA experience will be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of SAP migration tools such as Data Services or LSMW
  • Strong/Advanced skills with datasets in Excel (experience in PowerBI, including PowerQuery and PowerPivot will be an advantage)
  • Confidence with other Microsoft365 products especially SharePoint Online, Teams
